Stella Gesner, NCMT

  • Swedish Massage:  involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of Swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress, muscle tension and improved range of motion.
  • Deep Tissue Massage: is a bodywork technique in which the intention is to release chronic muscle tension and knots in the deeper tissue structure of muscle and fascia. A more aggressive approach, this type of massage takes aim at the physicality of pain and stress. The intention of DT Massage is not to cause pain, although it is possible for muscle tenderness to occur in the days following treatment.
  • Hot Stone Massage: is a relaxing, stress reducing massage technique using smooth, heated stones applied with pressure, in long strokes or rested on the body.
  • Sports Massage:  is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle  tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.
  • Prenatal Massage: shares many of the goals of regular massage — to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly.
  •  Infant Massage: - Usually taught to parents and caregivers of babies in a group class format. Infant Massage has been shown to help with bonding, calming, communication, and healthy maturation for both baby and parent.
  • Healing Touch:- an energy (biofield) therapy that encompasses a group of non-invasive techniques that utilize the hands to clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields. With some similarities to Reiki, Healing Touch offers more techniques for physical, emotional and spiritual balancing.
  • Seated Chair Massage:  You already know the pleasures and benefits of massage. Wouldn't it be nice to experience this therapeutic touch more often to combat the rigors of daily stress? Quick (an average session lasts 15 to 30 minutes), inexpensive (usually costing $1 a minute), and found in a variety of locations, chair massage can do just that, and can easily turn a stressful morning into a calm, productive day.
